"I got tired of guessing what was in the scrap we were charging." - Dan Pflaum, Founder and President
Dan is a graduate metallurgical engineer with more than 35 years in the steel, scrap recycling and metals industries. He spent five years in technical and operating roles at Laclede Steel, then fifteen years at The David J. Joseph Co. (DJJ), where he started and managed the Mill Service Division. There he worked with Gamma-Metrics, now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, to adapt PGNAA for recycled metals, and in 2002 he founded Gamma-Tech. The company is privately held and headquartered in Dayton, Kentucky, just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati.

Gamma-Tech's in-house staff, contractors and partners bring backgrounds in physics, nuclear engineering, electronics, metallurgy, information technology, finance and business administration. Our field service technicians have years of experience with this technology at installations around the world. Combined with decades in the scrap, metals and steel industries, that gives our customers a team that understands both the measurement and the melt shop.

Gamma-Tech is an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for Thermo Fisher Scientific, which manufactures the analyzer hardware. We customize and calibrate the CB Omni Agile analyzer for recycled metals and hold an exclusive, worldwide arrangement to market it to the scrap recycling, metals and steel industries. Thermo Fisher is our equipment partner, not a competitor.
Our services include installation and commissioning, qualification and testing, in-field upgrades, service and maintenance, replenishment of radioactive sources, and application expertise and consulting. Purchase, lease and rental options are available.
